August: Care Better, Not More
24.08.2026 · 3 minKeeping moisture close to the roots
One of the problems with watering in summer is that some of the water can evaporate before the plant gets to use it. Delivering it slowly and directly to the root zone helps keep moisture more stable and means you don't have to water as often.
With this type of watering, the Meliflor Onland Watering Pot 2 L releases water gradually into the soil. A solution that's especially useful for pots, vegetable gardens and plants that need access to water over longer periods, particularly when heat makes the substrate dry out quickly.
That way, instead of having to water constantly, we can keep water available for longer, right where the plant needs it. It's not about adding more water, but making better use of it.
Spraying when the plant needs it
During summer we may also need to apply water, liquid fertilisers or treatments to our plants. In these cases, an even application makes the job easier and avoids using more product than necessary.
When we need to cover a large area, the Meliflor 8L Pre-Pressure Sprayer makes the task easier thanks to its pre-pressure system and capacity. It's practical for applying treatments comfortably and evenly, without turning plant care into a heavier chore than it needs to be.
To make the most of it in summer, it's best to spray outside the hours of strongest sunlight and always follow the instructions of the product being applied. Spraying doesn't mean using more water, but applying it in a controlled way, at the right time and only when it's really needed.
Knowing how much water we use is also part of caring for plants
How many litres do we really use each time we water? Having a reference helps us spot excess and adjust watering to our plants' actual needs.
It's easier to know this using the Meliflor Aqualímetro (water meter), which lets you track water use while watering. Knowing how many litres you're using helps you fine-tune your routines, compare different systems and spot possible waste.
When we stop watering by instinct and start doing it with information, it becomes easier to find the balance between our plants' needs and responsible water use.
This summer, before doing more, stop and observe. Your plants may not need more care, just smarter care.
