Plants, our dear "green friends", aren't inanimate objects like the rest of our furniture or items in our house; quite the opposite. They are living beings that require a number of conditions of plant cultivation and care to stay alive and healthy. Factors such as exposure to light, temperature, irrigation or quality of the substrate are, among other things, essential for their well-being.

What care do plants require?

Plants require the following fundamental care: having a source of light nearby, a suitable temperature, a good substrate, fertiliser and a continuous source of irrigation.

It's light that enables them to carry out photosynthesis and produce sugars to perform their other vital functions. On the other hand, you won't need to worry too much about the ambient temperature if you have outdoor plants, seeing as they have adequate physiological mechanisms to adapt to the normal passing of the seasons of the year. However, you should regulate the temperature if you have indoor plants, keeping it between 15ºC and 25ºC so they don't suffer too much.

The substrate is another important aspect to consider. In general, all plants, and especially green plants and those that produce flowers and fruits prefer organic soils with an acidic pH, plenty of organic material and the capacity for water retention, oxygenation and cation exchange. Such as that provided by the Superior substrate by Meliflor, a combination of coco coir and perlite in which plants can allow their roots to grow while also having access to a large quantity of water and nutrients.

You'll need to apply the fertiliser according to the manufacturer's instructions and with regard to the irrigation, it's better to slightly underdo it than overdo it. Which is why by using the Meliflor ollas, we ensure that our plants receive the sufficient amount of water, not more and not less.
